As ASEAN’s largest machine tools and metalworking exhibition, Metalex 2008 showcased new technologies from 50 countries worldwide. More than 3,900 machines, tools and metalworking technologies were displayed at BITEC over four days.

“This show enables businessmen from across the region to learn about the latest technology so that they can upgrade their manufacturing processes and become more globally competitive,” said Dr. Archaka Sibunruang Brimble, Secretary General of the Thailand Board of Investment.
With the manufacturing sector playing a pivotal role in maintaining the dynamism in the Thai economy, Metalex is the ideal platform for international industry players to exchange ideas and knowledge. On top of that, business matching events were also organised to provide manufacturers and industrialists with special opportunities for business collaboration.
A significant two-day international Congress of Southeast Asia for high-level manufacturing executives, “Metalex Congress”, was organised alongside Metalex 2008. The Congress allowed them to gain critical information and direction of the industry.

Under the theme of “Manufacturing Intelligence for Economic Dynamism Era,” the Congress will discuss critical information such as important economic factors that will affect investment in the manufacturing sector next year. The Congress started off with a Dinner Talk on 20 November in which Former Minister for Finance, Dr. Thanong Bidaya, spoke on the Keynote topic of “World Economy Challenges on Thai Economy’s Competitive Competency.”
With the help of a translator, BuySingapore played a part in boosting the manufacturing sector when it signed up both exhibitors and visitors on its business matching portal, which has matched many buyers and sellers online.
