CeBIT 2007 saw an increase in the number of visitors from the previous year when it attracted approximately 480,000 international trade visitors over 7 days.

The largest trade fair for digital IT and telecommunications solutions, CeBIT was held in Hannover, Germany from 15 - 21 March.

Abuzz with activities, the trade show sparked off deals worth billions of euros and a rich spread of innovations from international exhibitors.



Overseas visitors amounted to 106,000 from 100 different nations. According to the CeBIT end of show report, turnout from Asia and North America was particularly strong.

One of the standout features of CeBIT was the most comprehensive and enriching program of conferences and seminars in the event's history. With a record-breaking 34-percent increase in attendance, the "CeBIT SME Forum" proved to be a strong magnet, attracting more than 6,000 entrepreneurs who were intent on discovering the best SME solutions and doing some B2B networking.

Exhibitor companies used the show to promote their global business agendas. Among participating European nations, the UK fielded the biggest exhibitor contingent, followed by Italy and the Netherlands.
 

Organised by the Singapore-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SGC), with the support of International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, 21 Singapore companies showcased their latest products at the exhibition, including the iSkyQube; DiskCrypt Mobile - the world's first encrypting hard drive enclosure with 2-factor authentication; Nimzy Vibro Sonic - a portable gadget with a revolutionary new technology that turns a flat surface into a speaker; and the ideaBoard sensor - the world's smallest and most portable interactive whiteboard system attached to your writing board and connected to your PC or Laptop via Bluetooth or USB port.

Contentment was widespread among the show's exhibitors, who indicated being "pleased" or "very pleased" with the increased number and quality of business contacts generated during the show.

Surveys revealed that one of the largest groups of visitors consisted of specialists from the manufacturing industries, including the automotive industry and plant and mechanical engineering. CeBIT also attracted some 40,000 visitors from the key wholesale and retail community this year.

Through CeBIT 2007, many Singapore companies managed to clinch business deals while others are positive about their ongoing negotiations with potential customers.

This year, visitors were exposed to Singapore's e-platform that provides business matching services between Singapore-based companies and the global business market. The BuySingapore portal allows overseas companies to search and locate Singapore companies, industries, products and services.

Companies are also able to post business opportunities on the portal to create global business partnerships. With more than 100,000 Singapore-based enterprises, up-to-date company and industry information and trade leads, BuySingapore provides foreign companies with unlimited buying, selling and partnership opportunities with Singapore-based enterprises. BuySingapore will be returning to Hannover in April for the world's leading showcase for industrial technology, Hannover Messe 2007.
