With Vietnam’s manufacturing industry witnessing steady progress and viewed as an attractive market for many global leaders to establish their brand and seek new businesses, the latest edition of MTA Vietnam 2008 held in Ho Chi Minh City attracted more than 8,000 trade visitors.
According to Stephen Tan, Chief Executive of Singapore Exhibition Services, Vietnam’s manufacturing sectors are actively gearing up in order to meet the influx of demands for manufacturing solutions.
One year into the cohorts of the World Trade Organisation, Vietnam’s progress has experienced a quantum leap with an estimated annual gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 8.5 per cent. Foreign investors and local manufacturers are in full speed establishing and strengthening their business networks, operations, infrastructure and support in Vietnam.

This year’s event saw more than 80 per cent of overseas exhibitors and group pavilions, providing an opportunity for the automotive, precision engineering, electrical, electronics and contract manufacturing sectors in Vietnam to access the latest precision engineering and machine tool technologies.
MTA Vietnam has put in place key building blocks and introduced important professional platforms to link the international exhibitors to the country’s industrial development initiatives.
Complementing the exhibition is the Manufacturing Conference held on the second day of the show. With industry experts sharing their valuable experiences, the conference aimed to equip the industry with the latest trends, technologies, materials and processes of the automotive and electronic markets.
To help the international exhibitors and visitors at MTA Vietnam 2008 with their business to business lead generation, BuySingapore set up booth together with Singapore Precision Engineering and Tooling Association. Signing up SMEs from the manufacturing sector, the international business matching portal will be adding these to its growing database and matching them to potential buyers and sellers.
